Visitor Visa

Travel to Canada with the right authorization.

A Canadian Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa) allows travellers who require a visa to travel to Canada temporarily for purposes such as tourism, visiting family and friends, or other permitted activities.

Not everyone travelling to Canada needs a Visitor Visa. Depending on your nationality and circumstances, you may instead need an eTA or another travel authorization.

SKO also assists individuals already in Canada who need to extend their stay as a visitor or obtain a Visitor Record to document their temporary resident status.

A visitor application is about more than showing where you want to go. Your application should clearly explain why you are coming to Canada, how you will support your stay, and why you will leave Canada at the end of your authorized stay.

At SKO, we help you understand what matters in your situation and prepare the appropriate application or request.

Common Questions

Do I need a Visitor Visa to travel to Canada?

Not everyone needs a Visitor Visa. Depending on your nationality, how you are travelling and your circumstances, you may need a Visitor Visa, eTA or another travel authorization.

If you are unsure which document you need, a consultation can help clarify your options.

Do I qualify for a Canadian Visitor Visa?

There is no single profile that guarantees eligibility. Your circumstances, purpose of travel, financial situation, ties to your country of residence and other factors are considered when assessing your application.

A consultation allows us to review your situation and explain what you should consider before applying.

Why do I need to show that I will leave Canada?

A visitor must satisfy IRCC that they intend to stay in Canada temporarily and will leave Canada at the end of their authorized stay.

Your application should therefore clearly support the temporary nature of your visit through your circumstances, purpose of travel and supporting documentation.

Can you guarantee that I will get a Visitor Visa?

No. A Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) cannot guarantee a visa approval.

The final decision is made by IRCC. Our role is to assess your situation, provide professional guidance and present your case as accurately and effectively as possible based on the information and documents available.

What is a Visitor Record?

A Visitor Record is a document that allows a visitor already in Canada to extend or clarify their temporary resident status. It is not a visa and does not itself allow you to enter Canada.

How long does a Visitor Visa or Visitor Record application take?

Processing times vary depending on the type of application, where you apply from, IRCC processing volumes and individual circumstances. We can provide guidance based on your situation, but processing times are not guaranteed.

How much does Visitor Visa representation cost?

Professional fees depend on the circumstances and complexity of the application.

A consultation is recommended before retaining SKO so your situation can be properly assessed and the appropriate services and fees can be discussed.

When you retain SKO for representation, your consultation fee is credited toward your professional fees.

Government processing fees are separate and are paid directly to IRCC.

Can SKO represent me throughout the application?

Yes. When retained for representation, SKO can assist with preparing and submitting your application, monitor communications from IRCC and respond to requests throughout processing until a final decision.
